One of the biggest recent advances in garage storage has been in modular storage units. These storage solutions range from flimsy disposable junk to storage units nice enough to put anywhere inside your home. They come in all shapes, sizes and a wide variety of materials. With a bit of planning you can add drawers, cabinets and work space that will dramatically increase your available storage.
Before you begin you should draw a diagram of your garage. Don’t forget you’ll probably have a car in there from time to time and you’ll still want to have access to your storage. Also, decide exactly want you want to do with the storage space in your garage. Is a work bench mission critical? Do you require drawers or would a storage cabinet serve you better?
Also, check your measurements before you order any modular units. They can be a pain – and expensive -- to return if they don’t fit.
